I am a sister to two brothers from a tiny town in Maine, who both got accepted at the Air Force Academy and both stayed in until they were Lieutenant Colonel’s. My oldest brother and I are conservatives. Unfortunately, my younger brother has gone far left, and although he was my best friend, now he refuses to speak with me. That’s the great divide that happened With Covid and the 2020 election.

I’m also the Grange master for a local Grange here in another small town out in Colorado. We had a float for the Fourth of July parade and my band played. We sang patriotic songs, including the Star-Spangled Banner. I loved that when we stopped the float to sing that song, everyone in the audience took their hats off and put their hands over their hearts. Some sang along…And listened into the very end. It surprised me, only because our town has been split ever since Covid and there’s a lot of far left people who hate the American flag now. They think the American flag is a symbol of Republicans, but it’s not. It’s the symbol for all Americans. And anyway, they were so respectful and it warmed my heart. On another note, our float won $100 for being the most patriotic. Now that was something worth winning.

I was glad to read that you were an Air Force person. I love your writing. Keep inspiring us.
